These birdie stitches are so dang cute! Wish I enjoyed hand stitchery. My baby turned 27 this year…..sometimes it seems like only yesterday she was just starting school. Wow, the time sure passes far too quickly. But now I have darling grandkids to love and spoil.

Thanks so much! I didn’t know that I enjoyed stitching as much as I do until more recently–it has really been a lot of fun. And yes, time is passing way too quickly!

Aww, I’m sorry that your daughter’s going to go to school full time this year. I was getting sad when I was thinking about maybe possibly sending my two-year-old to a daycare for just a week or two (because I heard they potty-train the kids who are still in diapers, hehe), so I can imagine how you’re feeling. I hope your daughter really enjoys school, though! 🙂

    • Corey says:

She really does enjoy school so that makes it more enjoyable for me. I would be a wreck if she didn’t like it! I’m with you–I just couldn’t send my two year old anywhere just yet. =)

Thank you 😀 I love this project so much and can’t wait to be able to actually do it! Enjoy your last few days with your girl. I’m sadly counting mine down until ALL 3 are tucked away at their schools. This is the first school year when the nest will be empty. So sad 🙁

Awww, your story and your sunflower reminds me of when my oldest was little… Emily always called sunflowers “sussafuffas”… and I can’t see one without thinking of her! Now she’s starting grade 9 and I’m officially old!

  8. Liz says:

I am a few months behind, but I still love all the blocks you are coming up with!

  9. Sharon says:

I haven’t had a chance to start this yet, but I’ve been saving each month’s block and can’t wait to get started on it!!! Birds are some of my favorites! Thank you for having this!

  10. Barb says:

I can not begin to tell you how much fun I am having doing this stitchery, thanks for much for your time and talent.

  11. Colleen says:

I love sunflowers too, we have several in our backyard and they’re beautiful and definitely remind me of late summer. Although in Alabama, late summer happens around October. 🙂 We enjoy the kiddo stories too, both of mine are going to preschool this year (2 and 4) and I think I’m going to die when the 4 year old goes to kindergarten next year. 🙂

    • Corey says:

I was so not a fan of sending Chloe off to Kindergarten last year. I let her ride the bus since it’s only a 5 minute ride and she was so excited about being able to ride the bus–however, I think her bus driver must have thought that I was nuts trying not to completely burst into tears as she got on the bus. =p

  12. I’m a few months behind, too, but I have lots of travel coming up this fall to catch up with my blocks in hotels and airports. I can’t remember if I commented to you about this or not, but I was at a conference at Stanford in May, and in between my presentations, I was working on one of your blocks in the break room. A man came up and asked if that was a Little Miss Shabby pattern and I nearly fell off my chair! Apparently, his fiance is working on your Birdie Stitches, too!

  13. Thank you! I am having such fun with these blocks. 🙂

What’s the name of the fabric line you use and where can it be purchased? Thanks!

I have been faithfully embroidering my BOM Birdie Stitches. I just love this project and am making a queen size quilt. All my other blocks are pieced and waiting for the embroidered blocks. I look forward each and every month with great anticipation. Thanks for sharing your creativity with all of us.
